Overview

The Plant Operations Lead is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of MTerra Solar's plants. This role involves daily performance monitoring, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring safety compliance, and driving performance optimization to maximize plant availability and energy output.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the assigned solar PV plant(s) in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Monitor plant performance using SCADA and other analytics tools to ensure optimal generation and identify performance issues.
  • Coordinate and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with OEM and company procedures.
  • Supervise and coordinate field technicians, contractors, and service vendors on-site.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation related to operations, maintenance, outages, and performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of faults and implement corrective action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, including conducting tool-box talks and safety audits.
  • Liaise with the utility, grid operator, and internal stakeholders regarding outages, compliance, and grid synchronization.
  • Assist in inventory control of spare parts, consumables, and tools required for plant upkeep.
  • Support performance reporting, budgeting, and plant performance presentations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in solar power plant operations and maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and SCADA.
  • Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA, or local equivalents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SCADA/monitoring systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, maintenance manuals, and equipment specifications.
