Position Summary Industry: Education & Training Job category: University and Academy Location: Mafikeng, Capital City Contract: Permanent Remuneration: Market Related Job Description The School of Communication Studies at NWU (Mahikeng Campus) has one vacancy for a Senior Lecturer in the dynamic field of communication. Key Responsibilities Teaching: Teach advanced and general communication courses. Provide strong pedagogy, mentorship, and hands‑on learning. Offer specialty courses in development, corporate, or radio/TV broadcasting. Curriculum Leadership: Provide leadership in development, corporate, or radio/TV broadcasting programs; contribute to curricular revision; expand subject groups across campuses. Scholarly Work: Maintain a strong publication record; pursue continued research; participate in research projects with colleagues. Student Support: Advise undergraduate, honours, masters, and doctorate students; develop study guides; provide assessment and marks. Service: Provide service to the institution, community, committees; share responsibilities; support school operations. Minimum Requirements A PhD (NQF Level 10) in Communication with specialisation in corporate communication, development communication, or radio and television broadcasting. At least 8 years of teaching experience at undergraduate, honours, and master's level. Practical experience as a corporate and communication specialist in South African industry, government, and international settings. Preferred Qualifications Member of SACOMM, SACIA, or similar professional bodies. Key Functional / Technical Competencies Experience in higher education. Experience in industry‑related environments. Sound understanding of development, corporate communication, or radio and television broadcasting discipline. Behavioural Competencies Team player within groups. Good relations with colleagues. Ability to work independently. Remuneration The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with NWU policy guidelines.
