Job Title: JavaScript Software Engineer – Legacy Platform Setup: Freelance Duration: Long Term Location: Fully Remote from Philippines Schedule: Graveyard Shift, 8hours/day Start Date: ASAP Rate: PHP 900/hour Own Equipment and stable internet are required Overview: We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support and maintain a legacy, Java-based web application platform. The ideal candidate will be Philippines-based and available to work US business hours . This role requires strong hands‑on experience in JavaScript and XML , with additional familiarity across database, server, and deployment technologies. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and enhance existing functionality within a legacy web-based platform. Develop and troubleshoot front‑end features using JavaScript (heavy focus) and XML . Work with MySQL databases for queries, data management, and basic optimization. Support integrations and system operations involving Apache Tomcat and Apache ActiveMQ . Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth deployment and version control using Git repositories . Provide production support and assist in debugging and issue resolution. Document system changes, updates, and procedures to support knowledge sharing and long‑term stability. Required Skills and Experience: Strong proficiency in JavaScript and XML . Working knowledge of MySQL (medium-level proficiency). Familiarity with Java and Java Server Pages (JSP) — primarily for understanding system architecture rather than coding. Basic experience with Apache Tomcat , Apache ActiveMQ , and Windows virtual machines . Understanding of Git for version control.
