Job Description

Primary Responsibilities and Specific Responsibilities: perform analyses as defined in the Matrix of Laboratory Tests and Analyses and report test results according to the Quality Management System policies and procedures. responsibilities include sampling, testing and analyses, preparation of reagents and test solutions, standardization of volumetric solutions, participation in proficiency programs, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, following standard operating procedures, analysis and interpretation of standard laboratory results (including statistical QC charts and uncertainty of measurements), reporting and documentation, coaching of junior staff, ensuring safety and a tidy workplace, managing procurement of laboratory supplies, and compliance with QHSEE policies and SGS Code of Integrity.

Additional duties include maintaining documentation, keeping up-to-date with procedures, participating in incident investigations, and contributing to the safety and environmental program as required by SGS management.

Qualifications
  • Education: University or College degree in BS Chemistry, BS Biochemistry, Agrichemistry, or related sciences. Licensure as Chemist is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of laboratory experience, including at least 6 months of HPLC, GC and/or GC-MS operation; experience with LIMS and data review is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal English, good MS Excel skills, analytical instrumentation knowledge (chromatography and mass spectrometry), high integrity, teamwork, organization, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Additional: Knowledge of method development and method validation is advantageous. Proficiency with data quality and ISO17025 where applicable is preferred.

  • Shifting schedule (dayshift/nightshift).
  • Knowledge in handling tests requiring HPLC, GC, or LC-MS/MS is an advantage.
  • Experience with method development and validation is a plus.
