U.S. Accounting Manager

Overview

You will develop accounting policies and procedures, manage day to day accounting operations and manage full-cycle month-end closes for multiple U.S. clients across various industries (e.g. eCommerce, retail and manufacturing, agencies, software, fin tech, and business services). U.S. inventory accounting experience required.

You will have direct ownership over the close processes and interact with clients on a regular basis.

You will collaborate with Finance and Accounting Leads who will provide oversight and mentorship within our team across multiple clients.

You will be exposed to and eventually lead and/or execute additional areas of responsibility (e.g. People Operations and FP&A).

Role Responsibilities

• Vendor Management and AP
  • Review invoices for proper coding and provide guidance to staff
  • Pay invoices after client approves
  • Oversee 1099 checks on a quarterly basis
• AR and Cash Management
  • Oversee AR Cycle
  • Review weekly cash flow forecasts and communicate changes/differences
  • Monitor cash flow and make recommendations to client
• Daily Bookkeeping
  • Manage weekly transaction cycles
  • Maintain organization of data room
• People
  • Facilitate with transitioning support staff on clients
  • Review and approve payroll processing in accordance with the clients payroll schedule(s)
• Month End Close
  • Review bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Run lead on month end close procedures in accordance with the month end close checklist ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Review monthly balance sheet schedules and disposition discrepancies and/or balances. Advise on necessary adjusting entries.
  • Investigate variances and make journal entry corrections as needed
  • Perform month over month flux analysis and document findings
  • Draft monthly reporting package for Client Lead
• Compliance
  • Review compliance filings such as licensing and corporate insurance
  • Assist accountants with the preparation of annual tax returns and audits
  • Manage year-end 1099 filings
• Communication and Team
  • Work cross-functionally with the organization to support ad-hoc requests
  • Maintain thoughtful, timely and proactive communication with the clients and team
  • Manage accounting inboxes, responding to escalated inquiries where needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, and/or Finance required
• 5+ years of relevant U.S. work experience
• CPA and/or MBA is a plus
• Experience in Quickbooks Online, Netsuite or a similar system required
• Experience in an ERP system highly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills required
• Experience in eCommerce highly preferred
• Experience with inventory accounting required
• Ability to work efficiently and be engaged in a remote environment
• Ability to plan ahead and anticipate personal, client, and team\'s needs
• Work during client business hours
• Can balance multiple priorities, multiple clients and span between day to day functions and month-end close responsibilities
• High comfort level in working with many different cloud-based technology tools
• Organizes deliverables in a logical and clean manner
• Excellent communication skills and business acumen
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
