As an AU Accounting Manager, you will lead quality assurance, staff development, and process improvement initiatives across Australian accounting and tax engagements. You'll be responsible for reviewing deliverables prepared by both onshore and offshore teams, ensuring compliance with ATO and ASIC standards, and driving accuracy and consistency in financial reporting. This role also plays a key part in mentoring and training staff, enhancing workflows, and supporting the continuous improvement of firm-wide practices. Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough reviews of accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and SMSF files prepared by both onshore and offshore teams Identify and resolve technical or process issues prior to client delivery Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax compliance Oversee adherence to firm policies, ATO and ASIC requirements, and professional standards Provide ongoing feedback and training to accountants, bookkeepers, and administrative staff Design and implement structured training programs using Tax Nuggets Academy and internal resources Lead training sessions, case study reviews, and technical refreshers aligned with firm workflows Collaborate with managers to assess performance and address capability gaps Evaluate current workpaper and review procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and automation Support documentation and refinement of firm‑wide standard operating procedures Qualifications & Experience Extensive experience in preparing accounts, BAS, tax returns, and SMSF files across various entity types Strong understanding of Australian tax law, ATO and ASIC compliance, and professional standards Minimum 6 years' senior‑level experience in Australian public practice accounting post‑qualification Proven ability to lead and manage a team (minimum 2 direct reports) for at least 2 years Skilled in identifying technical issues and implementing process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency Experienced in designing and delivering structured training programs for accounting and support staff Holds an Australian bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification essential or equivalent qualification with Australian Tax Law Committed to ongoing professional development and certification compliance WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
