Senior DevOps Engineer

Overview

Gappify is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to spearhead the evolution of our cloud infrastructure, automation, and security practices. This role focuses on applying software engineering expertise to optimize the development lifecycle, infrastructure, and deployment processes, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure automation, security, and continuous delivery.

• Cloud Infrastructure Leadership: Architect, implement, and maintain a scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS.
• CI/CD Pipeline Innovation: Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines to achieve zero-downtime deployments and high availability.
• Security and Compliance Champion: Develop and enforce robust security practices, implement compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2), and drive risk mitigation across infrastructure and applications.
• Infrastructure as Code Advocate: Lead the adoption of IaC using Terraform and Ansible to ensure consistency and repeatability.
• Containerization and Orchestration: Champion Docker and Kubernetes, contributing to microservices orchestration strategy.
• Observability and Reliability Engineering: Implement monitoring and incident response with tools such as Opentelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch, and Opsgenie.
• Security Automation: Automate security processes, including integration with penetration testing tools and threat modeling outcomes.
• Cost Optimization: Drive cloud cost optimization and infrastructure efficiency.
• SDLC Integration: Collaborate with development teams to embed security and DevOps best practices across the software development lifecycle.
• Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Provide mentorship on DevOps principles, cloud technologies, and automation.
• Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay at the forefront of DevOps and cloud security trends, evaluating and adopting new tools and practices.
• AI/ML in DevOps: Explore and implement AI/ML or LLM-based technologies to optimize DevOps workflows.

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with a focus on DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or SRE.
• Expert-level proficiency with AWS cloud services and cloud architecture best practices.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing CI/CD automation (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions).
• Strong understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture with security focus.
• Extensive experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Solid understanding of network security, IAM, encryption, and cloud compliance.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Opentelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch).
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Experience with incident response and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with PHP (Laravel) and Java is a plus; front-end tech (HTML, CSS, JS, Vue/React) and SQL/NoSQL databases are beneficial.
• Active interest and hands-on experience applying AI/ML or LLM-based technologies to DevOps.
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional) are a strong plus.
