About this role The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing complex group tax work from start to finish, including acting as a key point of contact for clients. This includes processing journal entries through to the Trial Balance stage, preparing financial statements for lodgement with the Australian Taxation Office, and managing end‑of‑year compliance, including the preparation of tax returns and required tax reporting in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities Manage complex group tax work from start to finish, acting as a key point of contact for clients across multiple industries and investment portfolios. Prepare financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals, and groups with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Provide tax advisory services, including research, analysis, and the development of tailored strategies to defer or eliminate tax payments. Review, supervise, and mentor junior staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance in their work, while fostering professional growth and open communication between staff and management. Oversee end‑of‑year compliance work, including the preparation and updating of tax provision schedules and completion of all required tax reporting in a timely manner. Conduct reconciliations of balance sheets, debtor/creditor accounts, bank accounts, and investment holdings, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies. Review statutory financial accounts and regulatory returns for self‑managed superannuation funds (SMSFs). Reconcile GST activity to ensure amounts reported and paid to the ATO are accurate. Generate and reconcile income for all investment activities. Research and resolve errors in tax filings, liaising and negotiating with the ATO on tax payment issues as required. Assist junior members in payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly reconciliations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies. Support the firm's internal processes, including completion and posting of weekly timesheets. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy CPA qualified Preferably with knowledge in accounting software like XERO, MYOB & Active Workpapers With 4 years of relevant experience and up With strong leadership skills Excellent communication skills Attention to Detail Deadline‑oriented What's in it for you?
