Head of Finance and Accounting

Location: Makati, National Capital Region, Philippines The Head of Finance and Accounting is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and compliance with regulatory requirements. As a key member of the executive team, he/she will work closely with the President and senior leadership to drive the company’s growth, profitability, and sustainability in a competitive retail environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business goals. Provide expert guidance on long‑term financial planning, capital investment strategies, and growth initiatives. Advise the executive team on financial risks and opportunities within the retail industry. Oversee financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and budget vs. actual variance analysis. Lead the budgeting process, ensuring alignment with company objectives and growth strategies. Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure operational efficiency. Financial Compliance & Controls Ensure the company adheres to all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards. Implement and enforce robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets. Oversee internal audits and ensure that external audits are conducted in a timely manner. Lead, mentor, and develop the finance department team, fostering a high-performance culture. Build a strong finance team that effectively supports business operations and financial decision‑making. Business & Financial Analysis Provide actionable insights based on financial data to support business decision‑making. Conduct financial analysis, such as profitability analysis, cost management, and pricing strategies for retail products. Identify areas for financial improvement and cost optimization across retail operations. Stakeholder Management Communicate financial performance and strategy to shareholders, investors, and board members. Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, regulators, and vendors. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of finance‑related systems and tools (e.g., ERP, financial reporting software). Leverage technology to improve financial reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and decision‑making processes. Retail‑Specific Financial Expertise Analyze market trends and consumer behavior to ensure profitability and sustainability in retail operations. Work closely with merchandising, operations, and marketing teams to align financial planning with retail objectives. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (required). CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation (preferred). MBA or other advanced financial certifications (preferred). Experience: At least 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with a significant portion of that time spent in senior finance roles, ideally in the retail industry. Demonstrated expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and corporate governance. Experience working in a multinational or large‑scale retail organization is highly desirable. Strong understanding of retail operations, supply chain dynamics, and consumer trends. Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; in‑depth knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting; proficiency with financial management software and systems; strong knowledge of Philippine tax regulations, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks; ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and senior management.
