Our client is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role’s responsibilities include general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and other ad hoc tasks as requested. As a key member of the finance team, they will be mentored and supported by the Finance Manager and Director of Finance to develop within a rapidly growing and changing business.

WORK SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Handle the timely and accurate posting of accounting journal entries concerning the month-end
  • Handle accurate and timely completion of assigned monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring supporting documentation is available for all key positions
  • Assist with the external audit process together with the Finance Manager
  • Assist with ad hoc tasks and project work as required
  • Demonstrate excellent team collaboration and communication, supporting the continued development of the high-performance culture, including active participation in group-wide projects as required
  • Act in the best interests of the company, through actively contributing to the safety and well-being of self and others, ensuring a safe, healthy, and collaborative working environment
  • Seek continuous improvement of financial accounting processes to enable the delivery of an efficient and streamlined service, documenting changes to processes and procedures
  • Perform key internal and external reporting matters as required
  • Reconcile KPOS to the accounting ledger for assigned areas
  • Conduct sales and margin analysis
  • Assist in the budgeting process
  • Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of the month-end management reporting pack, including commentary/analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of supporting schedules and information regarding tax, FBT, audit, and other compliance
  • Prepare the monthly BAS
  • Act as the reporting champion for the in-house POS system
  • Develop and maintain BI reporting and dashboards in Phocas
  • Prepare turnover rent calculations
  • Act as a back-up to the junior accountant role during busy periods or leave coverage

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree-level qualification in Accounting or Commerce
  • Certified Accountant or Certified Public Accountant preferred, but not a requirement
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in an accounting role, in the profession or commerce
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and standards (AASB/IFRS)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar accounting software
  • Mature analytical skills with a keen desire to learn and understand underlying concepts
  • Proven ability to identify improvement opportunities and to implement innovative solutions
  • Ability to interpret financial information and explain in non-financial terms
  • Proven report writing skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Personal integrity and confidentiality
  • Team leader/player and proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
