Overview

Chubb Makati, National Capital Region, Philippines — The Legal, Risk & Compliance Officer will oversee all legal, risk and compliance obligations for Chubb Philippines. The role involves providing expert legal advice, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing risk effectively to support the organization 0s strategic objectives. Success is measured by stakeholder management with the business relating to all compliance and risk identification, quality of relevant advice and assessments, effectiveness of training, and comprehensive committee and Board reporting, plus 2nd line controls assurance activities to meet internal and external requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Legal: Provide timely and accurate advice and proactive monitoring in relation to law and regulation affecting the organization, including monitoring changes in law and regulation and coordinating organizational responses. Conduct regulatory gap analyses for new laws and amendments and drive implementation of regulatory changes. Provide advice in connection with business initiatives and transactions. Prepare, review, and negotiate legal documents and agreements such as marketing, administration, service and confidentiality agreements. Perform corporate secretarial functions including meeting preparation and materials. Brief and communicate with external legal counsel.
  • Compliance: Implement and maintain the Chubb Business Compliance Framework, ensuring procedures and controls meet regulatory obligations. Conduct compliance reviews, identify risks and non-compliance, and coordinate remedial actions. Ensure effective complaint handling systems are in place, monitored, and consistently applied. Provide timely compliance advice aligned with local and global regulations. Establish channels for compliance policy communication and transparency. Develop reporting mechanisms for compliance findings and collaborate with business units to ensure resources for controls. Oversee internal monitoring and investigations of compliance issues, including fraud, and manage remediation. Deliver legal and compliance training in collaboration with regional teams and produce compliance reports for regular and ad hoc requests.
  • Risk: Manage the ERM system for the branch, support maintenance of risk registers, rollout system changes, and provide risk management training. Ensure embedding of Chubb ERM standards regionally and assess annual compliance. Collaborate with the business to identify, assess, and manage risk profiles to support strategic objectives. Work with internal stakeholders to conduct risk assessments and adjust strategies as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree / LLB required.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a law firm or as a corporate lawyer in a multinational company. Experience in financial services, life and/or general insurance is an advantage. Experience interacting with local regulatory bodies and interpreting regulatory changes. Labor relations experience is preferred.
