Salary Range: Commensurate with experience – DP1 $153,276 to DP4 $164,999 FTE Gross per annum + 12.75% Super

About Holy Spirit College

The College is an initiative of the Diocese of Cairns and Catholic Education Services. The College offers individualised and flexible multiyear secondary education programs for young people disengaged from mainstream schooling. The College provides innovative teaching and learning practices that acknowledge young people’s diverse education and social needs and empower them to pursue transitions to adulthood, further education, employment, or a return to mainstream schooling with a connection to the community. Staff are multi-disciplinary to respond to the diverse needs of young people and their families. The College is a registered Special Assistance School across three campuses located within Edmonton, Manoora and Cooktown. The Cooktown campus includes a 32-bed years 7 to 12 residential unit for weekly boarders. Manoora and Edmonton provide alternative educational pathways via day schooling for young people in years 7 to 12.

Education

Young people who attend Holy Spirit College include Indigenous and non-Indigenous students disengaged from mainstream education for a range of reasons including a history of complex trauma, extended periods of unexplained absences, high mobility, contact with the juvenile justice system, care of the Office of Children and Families, mental illness or risk of self-harm or substance abuse, exclusion or repeated suspension, homelessness, and generational histories of early school leaving and unemployment.

About the Role

The Deputy Principal - Head of Campus is the delegated leader of their campus, overseeing daily operations and holding delegated responsibility in Safeguarding, Learning and Pedagogy, Diversity and Inclusion, Risk, Compliance and HR. Strategically, the Deputy Principal – Head of Campus, with support from the College Principal, promotes and implements the College’s vision, purpose, philosophies, policies and programs, while providing a pastoral environment for students and staff. The Deputy Principal - Head of Campus is the direct line manager for onsite staff and reports to the College Principal, with support from the College Administrative Team in Compliance, Learning and Pedagogy, Diversity and Inclusion, Finance, HR, Safeguarding and Risk.

Work Requirements

  • Professional qualifications in Education, as per Queensland Catholic Education Commission Position Statement for Senior Leadership Position in Catholic Schools in Queensland
  • Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Leadership experience:
    • Demonstrated experience in education leadership of at least 5 years
    • Demonstrated administrative ability
    • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
  • Written and verbal communication skills of a high order
  • Demonstrated commitment to the pastoral care of members of the school community
  • Promotes child safety at all times
  • Capacity to understand and implement Duty of Care and Workplace Health and Safety requirements
  • A current driver’s licence at LR level or above or will gain within 3 months of employment
