Staff at the College are multidisciplinary, responding to diverse needs of students and families. The college is a registered Special Assistance School across three campuses located within Edmonton, Manoora, and Cooktown. Cooktown campus has a 32‑bed year‑7‑to‑12 residential unit for weekly boarders. Manoora and Edmonton provide alternative pathways via day schooling for students years 7‑12. Holy Spirit College supports Indigenous and non‑Indigenous young people who are disengaged from mainstream education, many of whom have complex trauma history, extended periods of unexplained absences, high mobility, juvenile justice contact, child protection care, mental illness, self‑harm behaviours, repeated exclusion or suspension, homelessness, and generational early school leaving/unemployment. Role Overview The Deputy Principal – Head of Campus is the delegated campus leader, overseeing daily operations and holding delegated responsibility from the College Principal in safeguarding, learning, pedagogy, diversity and inclusion, risk, compliance and HR. Strategically, the Deputy Principal promotes the college’s vision, purpose, philosophies, practices, policies and educational programs, providing a pastoral environment for students and staff. The Deputy Principal is the direct line manager for onsite staff and reports directly to the College Principal, receiving significant support from the College Administrative Team. Core Responsibilities Lead and manage daily campus operations, ensuring high‑quality teaching, learning and pastoral care. Safeguard students and staff, implementing policies, procedures and practices that promote child safety, inclusive education and a child‑safe organisation. Develop and execute the college’s vision, purpose, philosophies, practices, policies and educational programs, providing a pastoral environment for students and staff. Strategic leadership, providing direction and vision for the college and building capacity to lead the college. Lead curriculum and assessment design and delivery, assess teacher performance using teacher learning & assessment. Develop and lead succession planning for the college. Qualifications & Experience Professional qualifications in education, as per Queensland Catholic Education Commission Position Statement for Senior Leadership Position in Catholic Schools in Queensland. Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers. Demonstrated experience in education leadership of at least five years. Strong administrative ability, interpersonal relationships, written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to pastoral care of the school community and promotion of child safety. Capacity to understand and implement duty of care and workplace health and safety requirements. Current driver’s licence at LR level or above (or will obtain within 3 months of employment).
