Retirement Operations Risk & Control Director Manulife, Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines 2 days ago Responsibilities Lead weekly incident reviews with management, providing operations management with timely consultation on control deficiencies and process improvement recommendations that contribute to long‑term and immediate business goals. Validate alignment of incidents to identified risks and issues. Provide reporting to the business to ensure timely management of Incident & CAP closures. Analyze metrics used to track business performance and share risk trends and themes with various teams and leaders across the business unit. Act as a liaison between audit (internal and external) and the business units during the annual SOC1/SOX & internal audits. Share audit plans and updates with business units and operations management. Assist with the coordination of meetings and contacts involving audit and the business units, including information gathering, walkthrough validation, and test sample collection. Identify and report self‑identified audit issues at the commencement of an audit. Provide guidance and recommendations for addressing audit findings and control review results. Review proposed solutions for open internal audit points, including evidence review prior to closure. Follow up on outstanding audit/SOC1/SOX issues and report results to business unit management. Conduct learning exercises based on audit themes and findings across GWAM Retirement Operations to leverage lessons and enable timely risk remediation. Identify risk and recommend control processes for new initiatives. Include consultation and review of projects, system enhancements, and operation change control requests to ensure proper risk management practices and an effective control environment. Conduct periodic testing of key controls using a risk‑based methodology to enable timely identification and remediation of risk. Track and report on business readiness for changes driven by regulatory changes, corporate standards, or initiatives. Provide support to the various GWAM Retirement Operations business units via business continuity coordination. Conduct annual BCP plan exercises, manage, train, and implement processes to ensure business areas can manage critical functions during significant service disruptions in alignment with the Corporate Global Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan. Create an operational control team to support risk and control governance within Retirement Operations. Lead operational controls staff to consistently achieve individual and team service standards and deliverables (e.g., control assessments, training, and consultation). Provide training to operations staff on effective control design and risk mitigation strategies. Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Competencies) University degree in Finance or Audit, or related Financial Services industry experience. Strong understanding of operational workflows, processes, and methodologies. Demonstrated understanding of control frameworks and risk management practices. Tactical thinker with excellent ability to evaluate feasibility, assess risks and trade‑offs, and make informed and timely recommendations. Well‑organized and capable of multi‑tasking and managing priorities in a demanding, deadline‑oriented environment. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across the business and with external stakeholders, demonstrating excellent customer orientation. Excellent communication skills, influencing and negotiation abilities, and the ability to present complex concepts and results clearly to management at various levels. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Additional Assets CPA designation with experience in accounting roles. Experience from an internal or external audit role. Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry practices (Sarbanes‑Oxley, OFSI, OECD, etc.). Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. Retirement products. Understanding of project management methodologies. Familiarity with RSA (Archer) system. Key Problems / Challenges Collaborating effectively with many stakeholders across GWAM Retirement, influencing risk management practices, including design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of controls. Supporting a diverse operations team that spans multiple geographies, record‑keeping systems, and control infrastructure systems.
