Our core mission is to tackle marine plastic pollution by collecting and recycling ocean‑bound plastic waste in emerging countries with maximum social impact. We started the venture in 2018 and now manage a plastic collection network of about 300 collection points in Metro Manila and have already collected more than 1,000 Tons of plastic waste. We also developed a large range of offers for corporations willing to offset their plastic footprint. We are one of the very few pioneer companies in the world inventing and spreading the plastic compensation concept (EPR & CSR). We started recycling plastic waste in a demo facility in 2020 and launched in 2023 a full‑size facility in Muntinlupa (South of Metro Manila). We produce 100% recycled plastic eco‑boards (compression‑molding process) and rHDPE pellets. We also have a carpentry workshop, where we design and manufacture various products made with our eco‑boards, especially furniture pieces. Job Summary The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all equipment and machinery at The Plastic Flamingo (PLAF) facility are in optimal working condition. This role oversees the regular inspection, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of production equipment to minimize downtime and support efficient, safe, and sustainable operations. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the daily maintenance and operation of granulator/pelletizing equipment, as well as other related machinery. Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on all production machinery and equipment to ensure reliability and operational ef Calibration: Schedule and perform regular calibration of machines, tools, and measuring instruments, maintaining accurate records and certificates. Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; perform timely repairs to minimize production interruptions. Maintenance Planning: Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance schedules and checklists for all equipment to reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns, ensuring adherence to manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs, calibrations, and parts inventory. Prepare and update essential documents, including but not limited to operational manuals and maintenance records. Compliance: Ensure all machinery and equipment comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Coordination: Collaborate with production, safety, and procurement teams to coordinate maintenance activities and source necessary parts or services. Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to maintenance processes, equipment upgrades, and safety measures. Emergency Response: Provide rapid response to equipment breakdowns or malfunctions during production operations. Parts Management: Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement. Operator Training: Train machine operators on basic troubleshooting, routine care, and safe operation of equipment. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance of industrial machinery, with a strong preference for experience in plastics recycling or manufacturing environments. Proven expertise in working with granulators, pelletizers, shredders, or similar heavy‑duty equipment. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and calibration procedures for industrial equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams. Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Proficient in using maintenance management systems and basic office software. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Willingness to work on‑site and respond to emergencies as needed. Alignment with PLAF’s values and commitment to sustainability. This position is based on‑site at our facility, working primarily around machinery and production equipment. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional work outside regular hours to address urgent maintenance needs. The role involves hands‑on tasks in a physically active setting, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and close coordination with other operations and production team members.
