With a vision to "clear minds, change lives," CoolHed is launching a groundbreaking research project in South Africa—the first of its kind to study the impact of our technology on stress, anxiety, and sleep. Operating in sports, hospitality, and wellness industries, we are expanding internationally across markets including South Africa, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, India, the UK, Portugal, and New Zealand. Job Summary: CoolHed seeks a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the company through its next phase of growth and global expansion. Reporting directly to the Director and Founder, the CEO will oversee all aspects of company operations, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure the successful commercialization of our innovative medical device. The ideal candidate will have international leadership experience, a proven track record in scaling startups, and a passion for health and wellness innovation. This role requires close collaboration with the Founder to align operations with CoolHed’s mission and vision. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy to achieve CoolHed’s mission of revolutionizing stress and anxiety management. Lead international market expansion, prioritizing regulatory approvals and market entry in South Africa, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, India, the UK, Portugal, and New Zealand and more. Drive partnerships with universities, research institutions, and industry stakeholders to advance CoolHed’s South African research project and global scientific validation. Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, including product development, manufacturing, supply chain (via Amazon 3PL), and regulatory compliance for Class 1 medical devices. Manage cross‑functional teams across regulatory affairs, marketing, sales, and research, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. Ensure financial sustainability by optimizing budgets, securing funding, and managing investor relations. Regulatory and Compliance: Spearhead registration of CoolHed’s ice gel headband in target markets, leveraging TGA approval to streamline processes with ANVISA (Brazil), INVIMA (Colombia), ANMAT (Argentina), and other regulatory bodies. Coordinate with local sponsors/representatives to meet country‑specific requirements (e.g., Brazilian Registration Holder, UK Responsible Person). Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and global quality management standards. Marketing and Sales: Oversee influencer campaigns, athlete ambassador programs, and industry‑specific marketing to drive brand awareness in sports, hospitality, and wellness sectors. Develop sales strategies to meet revenue targets, including initial sales of 1,500 units and expansion through e‑commerce platforms like Amazon. Research and Innovation: Support the South African research project, collaborating with Durban Tech University and other partners to validate CoolHed’s impact on stress, anxiety, and sleep performance. Leverage research outcomes to enhance product credibility and inform future product development. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with the Director and Founder to align strategic decisions with CoolHed’s vision and shareholder expectations. Build relationships with investors, industry leaders, and regulatory authorities to support global growth. Represent CoolHed at international conferences, trade shows, and media events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of executive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a CEO or senior leadership role at a startup or scale‑up. Proven international experience, with expertise in market entry and regulatory compliance in regions such as Latin America, Europe, or Asia‑Pacific. Strong understanding of medical device regulations (e.g., TGA, ANVISA, MHRA, EU MDR) and experience with Class 1 device commercialization. Demonstrated success in scaling businesses, securing funding, and driving revenue growth in health, wellness, or technology sectors. Exceptional strategic thinking, financial acumen, and operational expertise, with a track record of building high‑performing teams. Passion for mental health and wellness, with knowledge of stress and anxiety management innovations (e.g., thermoregulation, vagus nerve stimulation). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including founders, investors, and regulators. Experience working with e‑commerce platforms (e.g., Amazon 3PL) and influencer marketing is a plus. Willingness to travel internationally and work across time zones, with flexibility to operate remotely or from key markets (e.g., South Africa, Australia). Preferred Skills Familiarity with South African business and research ecosystems, particularly in healthcare or wellness. Experience navigating Latin American regulatory landscapes (e.g., Brazil, Colombia, India). Background in managing research‑driven products, with an understanding of clinical study design and evidence‑based validation. Multilingual capabilities (e.g., Portuguese, Spanish, or Afrikaans) are advantageous for market expansion.
