Key Responsibilities (to be discussed and finalised with the successful candidate) Pastoral Leadership (Senior School) Provide strategic leadership of the Senior School’s pastoral systems, ensuring a coherent and consistent approach to student well-being, behaviour, and personal development. Lead and mentor Heads of Year and Tutors in delivering proactive, preventative, and outstanding pastoral care and safeguarding practices. Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and Child Protection Officer for Years 7–10, ensuring effective safeguarding policies, staff training, and student support systems. Collaborate and liaise closely with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Counsellors and other Student Support Services colleagues to ensure a coordinated, holistic approach to student care. Lead transition programs for students entering Year 7 and for new students joining the Senior School, ensuring smooth academic and social integration. Oversee student behaviour, attendance, and engagement systems, ensuring alignment with the school’s restorative and values-based practices. Lead the analysis of pastoral data (including PASS, attendance, and well‑being surveys) alongside academic data to inform a multi-tiered approach to holistic student support. Coordinate and deliver assemblies and parent workshops focused on well‑being, digital citizenship, and pastoral themes. Provide line management to designated academic departments, including PSHE, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning alignment with pastoral priorities. Lead professional learning for staff in line with the school’s pastoral and well‑being development plan. Contribute to the recruitment and induction of new staff, ensuring they are well-supported in understanding and upholding the school’s pastoral and safeguarding culture. Organise and lead House Spirit events and co‑lead Flourish Festival, promoting community, connection, and student engagement across the Senior School. Collaborate with Admissions and Student Support Services (if required) to interview and recommend prospective students based on data provided and interviews conducted. Leadership and Collaboration Lead the continuous review of data connected to student well‑being, the development of well‑being education within the Senior School and the construction of explicit and implicit well‑being education. Serve as a key member of the Senior School Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic development of the school’s pastoral & well‑being priorities. Collaborate with leaders across Key stages and departments to ensure consistency of care, inclusion, and well‑being from EYFS through to Senior School. Participate in whole-school planning, policy review, and accreditation processes. Act as a mentor for Senior Student Leaders of PE, Health, and Well‑being, fostering leadership, advocacy, and student voice. Act as a role model for the school’s values, demonstrating kindness, integrity, respect and commitment to continuous reflection, learning and growth. Represent the school at public events, conferences, and community engagements related to pastoral care, safeguarding, and DEIB. Collaborate with the Deputy Head (T&L) and the Service & Sustainability Coordinator to embed the GCE framework into pastoral time. Experience Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and inspire a culture of care, inclusion, and excellence. Experience in data-informed pastoral practice and the implementation of multi-tiered support systems. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
