Spiritual Director

Job Location: Davao City, 8000 Philippines

The Spiritual Director is a Senior Management role responsible for the overall management of the spiritual ministry. As a member of the hospital Senior Management Team (SMT), the Spiritual Director serves as the spiritual leader of the hospital, patients, families, and the community served by the CURE hospital.

The spiritual leadership provided is creative and innovative, aligned with the CURE Essential Standards for Spiritual Ministry, focusing on Patient Ministry, Coworker’s Discipleship, and Community Engagement.

The Spiritual Director will develop and implement policies and procedures related to spiritual ministry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Collaborate with hospital senior management and the Chief Ministry Officer to set ministry objectives and strategies promoting Integral Mission.
2. Design, implement, and supervise ministry programs across the three pillars to fulfill the CURE mission.
3. Lead and mentor Spiritual Team members and other coworkers.
4. Establish and model standards of Christian conduct for coworkers, patients, families, and the community.
5. Communicate effectively with department leaders and staff to ensure spiritual care integration.
6. Oversee spiritual care provision for coworkers, including discipleship and mentorship.
7. Coordinate with leadership on outreach activities and community engagement efforts.
8. Participate in spiritual ministry meetings and submit reports as required.
9. Provide mentorship and leadership within the CURE network upon request.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Guidance and Counseling

• Oversee spiritual counseling and direction, providing support through listening, discernment, and prayer.
• Develop initiatives to deepen spiritual practices.

Program Development

• Develop spiritual programs, retreats, and events.
• Integrate spiritual principles into organizational activities.

Pastoral and Patient Care

• Lead pastoral care, including crisis support and hospital visitations.
• Ensure quality sacramental services where applicable.
• Coordinate with clinical staff for holistic patient care.

Community Building and External Partnerships

• Foster community and interfaith dialogue.
• Build partnerships with local entities for greater impact.

Leadership and Administration

• Lead and mentor volunteers and staff.
• Participate in meetings and plan activities.
• Manage budgets and resources for spiritual programs.
• Conduct team meetings and ensure safety and confidentiality.

Education and Training Leadership

• Develop and deliver training on spiritual topics.
• Facilitate workshops and study groups.
• Stay updated on spiritual issues and incorporate into training.
• Mentor team members and coworkers.

OTHER DUTIES

• Maintain quality standards and safety protocols.
• Participate in environmental stewardship initiatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Theology preferred.
• Professional Driver’s license required.
• At least 2 years supervisory experience as a pastor or chaplain in a health setting.
• Experience in evangelistic outreach, especially for children and families.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Fluent in English, Tagalog & Cebuano.
• Strong Christian faith and prayer life.
• Ability to conduct biblical counseling and share the gospel.
• Preaching and Bible study skills.
• Conflict resolution and oral communication skills.
• Team building and networking skills.
