Position Overview:

As a "Senior Database Developer" you will be responsible for designing and implementing backend data processing that supports our cloud-based applications and services. On a day-to-day basis, you will own best practices for data management and data engineering - providing support to other team members and raising awareness across the organization for data issues and solutions. You will work closely with front-end and infrastructure teams to ensure our data strategy meets the needs of our business and is scalable, secure, and highly available. When contributing to projects, you'll make effective long-term design solutions and actively participate in sprint reviews and other agile processes.

Requirements

Deliver high quality software through the agile process, championing best practice and taking a pragmatic view on the pros and cons of such processes, adapting where needed.Communicate with a range of stakeholders, be they technical, non-technical, junior or very senior and be able to explain a range of technical issues to them.Be part of the architectural design and implementation of ETL pipelines and data solutions.Be a point of knowledge across the organization in data engineering.Key RequirementsBachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent.5+ years of experience in backend Data Engineering (server-side scripting, data pipeline and API development), in an enterprise environment2+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure or any cloud environmentA fluency and development experience in at least one or more of the following: Python and PowerShell. Experience in developing, testing, and documenting reliable, scalable, and secure APIs.Experience in working with a variety of data formats such as JSON, XML, Apache Avro or Thrift.Strong background in Microsoft SQL Server with proficiency in SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.Expert in writing T-SQL, including complex stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.Experience with Data Warehouse concepts (ETL/ELT) and implementation to provide reporting solutions for the organization. Knowledge of standard software security principles.Openness to new technologies and willingness to keep learning.Experience of working in an agile environment.Effective communication and problem-solving skills.Desirable RequirementsExperience with other traditional database solutions (i.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL data solutions (i.e. DynamoDB, MongoDB).Experience with data warehouse ETL tools like Snowflake, Redshift, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau.Experience with data pipeline using Kafka messaging, Apache Spark, DMS, SQS, Glue, S3.Experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) for automation.Experience with Visual Studio 2022, Visual Studio Code
