About the Deputy Head of Legal Role:
The Deputy Head of Legal will spearhead and lead the revamping of legal strategies, regulatory compliance, and risk management to safeguard and propel the success of a leading banking institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive data privacy policies and practices, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and safeguarding customer and corporate data
  • Drive the end-to-end management of contracts, from drafting to review, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and mitigation of legal risks
  • Establish and enforce a robust compliance framework, regularly monitoring changes in laws and regulations to ensure the bank's operations remain in full compliance
  • Lead and mentor the legal team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning to ensure the department's success and individual professional growth
  • Lead legal aspects of M&A transactions, providing expertise in due diligence, negotiation, and documentation to support successful acquisitions
  • Manage legal disputes, working closely with external counsel when necessary, to protect the bank's interests and resolve legal matters efficiently
  • Oversee and develop the legal strategy, aligning it with the overall business objectives of the banking institution
  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements, with a focus on Payment Service Provider (PSP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other relevant regulations, providing guidance to the organisation

To excel in this Deputy Head of Legal role, you should possess experience in corporate legal for a financial services or banking industry.

Key Requirements:

  • Accumulate a noteworthy years' experience in corporate legal, with a minimum of five years in a managerial role, indicating a strong foundation in legal leadership
  • Successful track record in ensuring compliance with the Manual of Regulations for Banks (MORB), highlighting expertise in navigating regulatory frameworks
  • Exhibits in-depth knowledge and practical experience in navigating BSP regulations for commercial banks, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of regulatory environments.
  • Hold an active certification aligned with Philippine regulations, showcasing a commitment to staying current with legal standards and requirements
  • A robust background in either banking, financial services, or a distinguished law firm, demonstrating substantial industry experience
  • Proficiency in effectively identifying and mitigating legal risks, showcasing a proactive approach to risk management within a legal context
  • Ability to seamlessly align legal strategies with broader business objectives, emphasising a strategic and holistic approach
  • Uphold unwavering ethics and integrity, ensuring strict adherence to legal and regulatory compliance standards, contributing to a culture of trust and responsibility
