UN Women works towards the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving equality between women and men. The organization in the Philippines is focused on implementing programs that support women in various areas such as peace and security, economic empowerment, leadership, and ending violence against women. Filipino women face high vulnerability to disasters and climate change due to socio-economic factors. Gender roles expose women to risks like human trafficking and violence, making them more vulnerable to climate impacts. The organization is looking for a National Project Officer to coordinate a program focused on gender-responsive climate change initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate and monitor Gender, Climate Change (CC), and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) program activities
- Provide technical support and capacity building to project partners
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting of program activities
- Offer technical inputs to financial and people management
- Assist in inter-agency coordination and country-level partnerships
- Support in resource mobilization strategies
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and communication efforts
- Perform other duties as required and supervise a Programme Assistant
- Master's degree in relevant fields or equivalent
- At least two years of experience in development projects
- Experience in gender, climate change, and disaster risk reduction issues
- Fluency in English and Filipino required, knowledge of another UN official language is an asset
