Material Inspector

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the Senior Resident Engineer for smooth implementation of the Project for all design and construction issues related to civil superstructure design.Review all detailed civil super-structural design and redesign from detailed designers or proposed by contractors.Assist Senior Resident Engineer in appraising bids as part of the bid evaluation process in civil packages and in evaluating the capacity of contractors.Support Senior Resident Engineers to review Contractors' civilAttend the periodical site inspection during construction and the defects liability period to resolve any civil superstructure design and construction issues arising.Inspect materials and finished partsDetermine if the materials or the parts is in conformance with the SpecificationsCollect samples for testingAssist Senior Resident Engineer to prepare a construction completion report, which will be a compilation and condensation of the data presented in regular monthly progress reports together with copies of as-built drawings.Assist the Senior Resident Engineer in the preparation of BOQ by contract package for civil superstructure works. Prepare method of measurement and technical specification for the related item of BOQ.Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor the progress and implementation of initiativesAll other jobs assigned by immediate superior Qualifications: Candidate should be a graduate of Civil Engineering or equivalent8 years of work experience as a Structural Engineer in the Railway Industry (essential).Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.Solid exposure in structural inspections, such as rebars, formwork, and concreting, as well as an understanding of engineering construction drawings for permanent structures such as piling, pile caps, columns, pier heads, and viaducts.Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
