A Senior AU Tax Accountant is expected to:

  • Prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports;
  • Prepare Tax Returns for all types of entities;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant taxation legislation such as Payroll Tax, PAYG;
  • Conduct BAS or Payment Certificates;
  • Ability to calculate and prepare FBT work papers and FBT Returns for review by manager/partner;
  • Provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data;
  • Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account formation;
  • Document financial transactions by entering account information;
  • Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options;
  • Summarize current financial status by collecting information;
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents;
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures;
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information;
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups;
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls;
  • Prepare payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements;
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions;
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends;
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document record-keeping and accounting systems;
  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.

What it takes to be part of our team?

  • Degree or higher education in accounting or related.
  • At least 3 years of Australian Accounting experience working for an Australian Accounting Firm.
  • Experience with XERO, MYOB or similar accounting software is required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google Apps.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Experience in preparing Financial Statements, Journal Entries, BAS/IAS, Company, Trust, Partnership and Individual Australian Tax Returns is mandatory.
  • Preparation of Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Annual Financial Statements is highly regarded but is not mandatory.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable and Receivables, Bank Reconciliation, ATO lodgment and payroll is highly regarded.
  • Proficiency with MS Office apps and Microsoft Teams and Xero Workpapers is highly regarded.
