JOB OVERVIEW:

As the Senior Finance Officer at the Director level within our Film Business, you will play a crucial role in shaping and managing the financial strategy of our film projects. You will collaborate with key stakeholders, provide strategic financial guidance, and ensure the financial health and success of our film ventures. This position requires a seasoned finance professional with a deep understanding of the entertainment industry, strong analytical skills, and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the overall business objectives of the Film division.
  • Collaborate with senior management to establish budgetary goals, forecasts, and financial plans for individual film projects.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the budgeting process for film productions, ensuring accurate and realistic financial projections.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying and addressing variances promptly.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis of potential film projects, evaluating profitability, risks, and return on investment.
  • Provide insights into financial trends, performance metrics, and key performance indicators to support decision-making.

Risk Management:

  • Identify financial risks associated with film projects and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Establish robust financial controls and compliance measures to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Contract and Deal Evaluation:

  • Collaborate with legal and business affairs teams to evaluate financial terms and conditions of film distribution deals, partnerships, and contracts.
  • Assess financial implications of various deal structures and provide recommendations.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including producers, directors, and external partners.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to project teams, offering guidance on financial implications of creative and business decisions.

Team Leadership:

  • Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role within the film or entertainment industry.
  • Strong understanding of film financing structures, production accounting, and distribution models.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
