Senior Technical Lead / Senior Technical Consultant

We are a dynamic company specializing in the development of RollCall, a cutting-edge product that manages school bus fleets, focusing on children's safety, parental visibility and fleet efficiency.

We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Technical Lead or Senior Technical Consultant with extensive AWS experience to join our dedicated team and contribute to the growth of our product.

The Role
Initially we are looking for a 3 month contract with the view to making this a permanent role. The initial 3 months is to perform a full infrastructure and architecture review. The system has been built by a third party and we are encountering performance and reliability issues. The output of the 3 months will be a review document showing the positive and negative points about the current system including infrastructure, core architecture and security along with a recommendation of actions and a high level indication of resources and time required.

The role will include discussions with the team in Australia as well as the current technology partner in India.

Our system supports tens of thousands of users simultaneously, tracking students on buses with numerous web sockets and rooms active at once. Managing this real-time technology at scale is the core complexity of our system. It involves ensuring seamless communication and data flow across multiple devices and locations, maintaining high performance and reliability even under peak loads. This requires expertise in optimising network connections, handling concurrent data streams, and implementing robust failover mechanisms to prevent disruptions. Your role will be critical in maintaining and enhancing this infrastructure, ensuring that parents, students, and staff have real-time, accurate information at their fingertips.

At the end of this process we may choose to start a new team to implement the action plan and in that case you would be asked to lead that team, help select the team members and manage the process forward.

Although initially this is only a 3 month contract, we are serious about the ongoing possibilities if you can show us that you can get a solid understanding of the current environment and provide a clear path forward.

About You

You are an experienced technology leader known for your ability to analyse complex systems, identify areas for improvement, and develop effective solutions. Your expertise includes software development, system architecture, and cloud infrastructure, with a focus on AWS.

As a Senior Technical Lead or Consultant, you excel at examining intricate systems, identifying performance issues, and proposing innovative approaches to enhance reliability and security. You have strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.

In addition to your technical skills, you are an excellent communicator with proficiency in English. You can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

You are also a capable leader who can guide and mentor others. You have experience in managing development teams, fostering innovation, and successfully completing projects.
