  • Maintain the general ledger and prepare internal financial statements and forecasts for a light-manufacturing company.
  • Prepare and post needed journal entries
  • Reconcile monthly credit card and factor statements
  • Maintain and Reconcile Prepaid Expense records
  • Maintain depreciation and amortization schedules
  • Prepare, maintain, analyze and present rolling 12-month cash flow forecasts – P&L, Balance Sheets, Sources and Uses of Cash.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Meet monthly to review monthly financial statements, budget to actual comparison, and share any insight gained through analyzing and studying those results and trends.
  • Monitor and liaise with the significant software or service partners that support the accounting and finance functions – e.g., PayChex (outside PEO who processes the company's payroll), cloud based employee time reporting, (state sales tax reporting and compliance)
  • Conduct weekly cash disbursements meetings – comparing disbursements needs to cash resources available, and recommending and identifying which disbursements should be made
  • Initiate the ACH, Wire Transfer and/or manual check printings (so the President can tindependently approve and/or sign them).
  • Review employee travel and other expense reports (and report any unusual activity)
  • Voucher invoices, post cash receipts personally and/or supervise the manual data entry performed by others
  • Analyze, project and present findings for special projects that arise – e.g., a proposal to move a warehouse from one state to another; projects or initiatives to report profitability between the company's various sales channels (wholesale, B2C eCommerce, international distributors).
  • Identify waste and propose opportunities for savings when those opportunities are founds
  • Prepare City Business Tax Returns
  • Maintain a calendar and prepare, from summarized source documents and data made available to the company from Avalara, and file up to 160 sales tax returns per year
  • Review A/R ageing to ensure that all customers are meeting their payment obligations – and when they aren't, elevating those instances for further action
  • Assist the outside CPA firm during their annual Review of the company's financial statements
Qualifications
Describe the qualifications the staff must have in terms of skills and capabilities

  • CPA Degree
  • Expert Excel skills (pivot tables, V Lookup, etc.)
  • Firm understanding of GAAP.
  • Solid understanding of inventory valuations and processes with a manufacturing environment – i.e., hands on familiarity with Bills of Material, Work Order postings and the ways in which inventory costs are maintained and calculated within a manufacturing or light manufacturing company.
