Work Set Up: Onsite

Identified candidates can have any of the following skillset:

Review inpatient medical records and accurately assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for diagnoses and procedures.Assign and sequence codes in compliance with official guidelines for coding and reporting.Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Ambulatory Surgery cases, including Observation Cases, GI procedures, Laparoscopic surgery, Orthopedic surgery, and other ambulatory services.Validate DRG (Diagnostic-related Groups) assignments through a thorough review of inpatient medical records.Provide detailed rationale and supporting evidence for recommendations and findings.Utilize industry-recognized references such as the ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, AHIMA Standards for Ethical Coding, AHIMA Practice Briefs for compliant querying, and AHA Coding Clinics.Review hospital charges against medical records and documentation to accurately assign CPT/HCPCS codes for diagnoses and services provided.Understand billing and coding requirements for government and commercial payers and apply knowledge of medical necessity and APC / OPPS for claims processing.Abstract statistical data from patient records following facility guidelines.Adhere to coding clinics and CPT assistants for accurate coding practices.Regularly check account status and initiate follow-ups with appropriate leaders if necessary.Familiarity with 3M coding and abstracting software, Epic, and Optum ECAC.

Required Skills:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in IP Medical Coding, SDS Medical Coding, DRGV/IP Auditor, Emergency Department (ED) and/or E/M Medical Coding, Profee Coding.College graduate or holder of Any-Medical Allied Courses.Preferably a Nursing graduate; active PHRN License required if Nursing graduate.
