Data Privacy Officer

 

Data Privacy officer is responsible for the school’s compliance on regulations on ensuring that personal and sensitive personal information of stakeholders are protected in compliance with the regulations of the National Privacy Commission.  The position includes implementation of data protection measures, submission of regulatory requirements and managing privacy incidents. 


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Observe the requirements of privacy laws, including the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations/ 
  2. Facilitate compliance with orders and issuances of National Privacy Commission and other relevant regulatory agencies that handles and manages personal data.
  3. Submits reportorial reports to National Privacy Commission 
  4. Leads in facilitation of data incidents and addressing data concerns by following the school protocol on security incidents and breach.
  5. Evaluate documents / forms released by the institution and  prohibits collection of excessive and unnecessary personal information. 
  6. Guide and assist departments to maintain privacy in their various functions and projects
  7. Leads in the conduct of Privacy Impact Assessments and coordinates with key offices in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities to security attacks and data leakages.
  8. Ensures that all physical, administrative and electronic security requirements are adhered and are updated. 
  9. Promulgate policies rules and guidelines related to data privacy, information security, data governance, and related frameworks
  10. Educate all stakeholders and the community on Data privacy  through conduct of training, learning sessions and regular advisory materials.
  11. Ensures that all data privacy consent forms are readily available, collected and filed accordingly. 
  12. Supervises the CCTV operations on data privacy and security compliance.
  13. Serve as point of contact for data protection authorities

    Required skills and qualifications

  14. At least two years of experience in data protection compliance or related field
Expertise in data protection laws and practices, including deep understanding of GDPRExperience in a legal, audit, or risk management role Strong project management skillsAbility to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential informationExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail

Preferred skills and qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, IT  or related field
