ENGINEERING HEAD

 

Job purpose

Responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all equipment, machinery, and infrastructure, as well as leading a team of technicians to minimize downtime and maintain the highest safety and quality standards. Ensuring also that the production processes run smoothly and efficiently while complying with industry regulations and standards.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities, ensuring timely preventative maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.Manage, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they are equipped to address technical issues promptly and effectively.Oversee the installation, inspection, and repair of equipment, ensuring that all machinery is functioning efficiently and meets production requirements.Identify and troubleshoot technical issues quickly to minimize production downtime and ensure continuous operation of the restaurant, commissary and head office.Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and health & safety regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections.Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget, optimizing resources for repairs, equipment purchases, and energy consumption without compromising quality or safety.Coordinate with external contractors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to schedule repairs, source parts, and negotiate service contracts.Implement best practices for maintenance operations, introducing new technologies or methods to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance equipment lifespan.Maintain adequate inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment to ensure that repairs and maintenance tasks can be carried out without delays.Monitor and manage energy usage across the facility, implementing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs without affecting production quality.Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and compliance documentation, to ensure transparency and regulatory readiness.Provide a comprehensive report to the management team outlining all repair and preventive maintenance activities. This will ensure that equipment downtime is minimized and that any necessary replacements are handled promptly.

 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).3+ years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in the Food & Beverage or manufacturing industry.Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and OSHA.Proven experience with mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing a team of technicians.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.Strong project management skills, with experience managing budgets and schedules.Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is a plus.
