About the Role: 

As a Cost Estimator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our client's budget expectations align with the actual cost of construction. This position offers the unique opportunity to work remotely while supporting a thriving construction company based in Sydney, Australia. You will have the chance to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals and work on exciting projects that drive the growth and success of the business. Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

Source new products and suppliers, focusing on product improvement and cost optimization. Develop supplier relationships and negotiate pricing. Create and maintain standard price lists and organize sub-contractor agreements. Complete production estimation and construction documents. Liaise with the Project Manager and Director on estimating issues. Prepare documentation for plans and contracts. Perform accurate quantity take-offs. Advise on margins to maximize profitability while maintaining market share. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. Estimate, plan check, and prepare construction budgets. Ensure construction process orders and invoices align. Document and communicate project actions, irregularities, and needs. Identify opportunities for business systems and process improvements. Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing. Source new suppliers and subcontractors as needed. Engage in project planning and tender writing. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, and Workplace Health & Safety. Fulfill recordkeeping responsibilities per relevant standards and guidelines. 

 

Skills & Experience: 

Minimum of 2 years’ Australian experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or similar role. Formal qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline and/or residential trade background with strong knowledge of construction. Proven analytical and reporting skills. Effective communication and people skills Ability to work independently and work under pressure
