Finance Manager (Construction)
Executive Search by Buhay Platforms Inc. on behalf of a confidential client
Who We're Hiring For
Buhay Platforms exists to help ambitious Filipino enterprises grow, through capital, professional services, and the right people. We have been retained by a fast-growing Philippine construction firm that delivers commercial and landscaping projects for some of the country's largest corporations. Our client builds premium spaces where Filipino businesses and families thrive. It delivers projects on time, under budget, and at uncompromising quality.
As our client takes on larger developments, it needs a proactive finance lead who can build its finance operations from the ground up. This person will advise leadership on keeping the business highly profitable. We are looking for that person.
The Role
This is not a back-office spreadsheet job. You will keep a tight grip on the financial reality of every project. You will own day-to-day financial operations, from strict job costing and cash flow tracking to flawless regulatory compliance. You will manage the books, improve reporting workflows, and run the budgeting process that gives leadership the numbers they need to make strategic decisions as the company scales.
Location:
Metro Manila, on site
What You'll Do
• Project Accounting: Manage WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and strict job costing. Every peso spent on site is tracked and accounted for.
• Budgeting & Cash Flow: Run the annual budget and keep rolling cash flow forecasts current so active projects are always adequately funded.
• Bank Account Management: Track and assign every inflow and outflow, working with the AP/AR team.
• Compliance Foundation: Strengthen BIR compliance (VAT, EWT, Income Tax Returns) by improving filing processes and accuracy with the external accountant. Align payroll with DOLE standards and ensure SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG are properly handled as systems are formalized.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Payables: Streamline AP/AR, including subcontractor billings, retention payables, and lien waivers, while keeping partner relationships healthy.
• Build the Reporting Function: Stand up month-end and quarterly reporting from scratch. Create structure, establish reliable data, and give the executive team clear visibility into project profitability, with the long-term goal of aligning to PFRS principles.
• Lead the Finance Team: Manage and develop a lean local accounting team. Assign work, set strict accuracy standards, and build their capabilities. Leadership Expectations:
• Accountability & Reliability: You own the department's output. When discrepancies or delays arise, you find the root cause and put in lasting fixes.
• Transparent Communication: You bridge site operations and the head office. You keep executives, project engineers, and vendors working from an accurate picture of project financial health.
• Mentorship & Standards: You lead by example, set clear expectations for accuracy and compliance, and develop your team.
• Steady, Proactive Execution: You bring a calm, commercially sound approach to a dynamic industry and keep projects moving without constant oversight. What We're Looking For:
•
Experience:
5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including 2 to 3 years in Philippine construction or real estate.
• Resourcefulness: A proactive problem-solver who is comfortable in a lean environment and manages multiple priorities.
• Technical Competence: Deep, practical knowledge of construction accounting, Philippine financial reporting standards, and Philippine tax law.
• Business Acumen: You understand project economics, deal margins, and cash flow cycles, and you add value beyond bookkeeping.
• Collaborative Professionalism: You work well with both leadership and site teams and will roll up your sleeves when needed. Nice to Have:
• Active CPA license
• Experience with construction ERP or modern bookkeeping software (Xero, QuickBooks, SAP)
• Hands-on experience with financial documentation for PCAB license renewals The Offer
