About the Role

We are seeking a creative and innovative Fashion Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate is passionate about the latest trends, possesses strong technical skills, and is capable of translating design concepts into high-quality, marketable garments. This role involves working closely with the design and production teams from concept through to final product, ensuring designs are executable efficiently and cost-effectively within a manufacturing environment.

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and production-savvy Fashion Designer to join our team and contribute to the successful execution of our clients' collections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research current fashion trends, forecast future trends, and analyze consumer behavior to inform design concepts for various major brands.
  • Develop original design sketches, technical flats, and specifications for new collections, always keeping manufacturability and cost efficiency in mind.
  • Select and source appropriate fabrics, trims, and embellishments, working with suppliers and vendors at The Garment District Inc.
  • Create detailed tech packs, including bill of materials (BOM), construction details, and grading specifications, ensuring all details are factory-ready.
  • Collaborate with pattern makers and sample rooms to develop prototypes and ensure design integrity and fit standards are met across different brand requirements.
  • Attend fittings and provide clear, actionable feedback to ensure samples meet design, quality, and production standards.
  • Manage the design calendar to meet seasonal deadlines, tracking progress and updates for the next collection launch.
  • Work cross-functionally with Merchandising, Production, and Marketing teams to ensure a cohesive product strategy and smooth transition from design to mass production.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical design archives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, or a related field.
  • A professional portfolio demonstrating strong creative and technical design skills: File.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fashion design, preferably within commercial garment manufacturing or high-volume retail production.
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, textiles, and fit, with a focus on production scalability.

Preferred

  • Experience in sustainable or ethical design practices.
  • Established network of fabric and trim suppliers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
