BASIC FUNCTION:
The IT Assistant is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and administration of the company's IT systems, including hardware, software, and network infrastructure. This role also involves providing technical support for users, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring the security and smooth operation of the company's IT environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, configure, and maintain both applications and hardware to ensure optimal system performance and operational efficiency.
- Administer and maintain company IT systems, including servers, network infrastructure, and workstations, ensuring all software and hardware are up-to-date and functioning correctly.
- Diagnosing and troubleshoot network issues, including local area connections, internet connectivity, and Wi-Fi issues.
- Provide level 1 technical support for company staff, addressing issues with printers, e-mail, file servers, communication systems (internet, local area network, telephone systems), and other IT-related concerns.
- Respond to individual users' technical difficulties, provide instructions, training, and troubleshooting assistance. Help users better understand and navigate common IT problems.
- Monitor and enforce security protocols, including virus prevention, malware protection, and data encryption, to ensure the company's network and systems are protected from security threats.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, system specifications, and other relevant technical materials.
- Regularly update and patch software, security systems, and operating systems to ensure compliance with the latest updates and prevent system vulnerabilities.
- Work with cross-functional teams to assess IT needs and ensure that IT services meet the demands of the business.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to meet the needs of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- No specific licensure required, but certifications in IT support, networking are preferred.
- Experience in IT support, including experience with hardware/software installation, network troubleshooting, and providing user support.
- Relevant certifications in networking, system administration, or cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
