Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Estimator & Operations Coordinator to support our estimating function, coordinate day-to-day operations, and manage a team member. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates using SimPro, reviewing technical documentation, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and overseeing administrative tasks that support project delivery.

This position suits someone who is organised, adaptable, and comfortable balancing technical and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Tender Management

• Review drawings, specifications, and scopes to determine material, labour, and subcontractor requirements.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates using SimPro.
• Guide and oversee the work of one team member involved in estimating and admin tasks.
• Source, compare, and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare tender submissions, proposals, and supporting documents.
• Maintain consistent estimating processes, templates, and record-keeping.

Technical Support

• Interpret electrical, air conditioning and solar plans and take offs to support accurate take-offs.
• Provide input on cost control, value engineering, and alternative options.
• Support the development of energy-efficient and compliant project approaches.
• Assist internal teams by addressing technical questions related to estimates or project requirements.

Operations & Administrative Tasks

• Maintain organised records of estimates, quotes, supplier correspondence, and project files.
• Review purchase orders, variations, and progress claims prepared by the team.
• Update project and job data in SimPro to support accurate tracking and reporting.
• Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and client-facing documents.
• Contribute to process improvements within estimating and administration.

Communication, Coordination & Team Management

• Coordinate information flow between estimating, operations, and management.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal staff to clarify project details.
• Respond to enquiries and provide updates on estimate and tender progress.
• Allocate tasks, support development, and oversee the work quality of one team member.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in an electrical estimating role (solar & Airconditioning experience is an advantage).
• Proficiency in SimPro; experience with GroundPlan or similar take-off software is an advantage.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, components, and industry standards.
• Ability to organise workload, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.
• Clear written and spoken English communication.
• Comfortable working across both technical and administrative tasks.
• Experience supervising or mentoring another team member is beneficial.
