Job Purpose

The Trainer, Medical Coding, is responsible for conducting medical coding education for new and existing medical coders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing modules for medical coding and billing training
  • Develops curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs
  • Develops and produces materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessment, and qualifying examination
  • Provides training and review for onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders
  • Consolidates coder scores from quizzes, exams and assessments and present consolidated data during weekly meetings
  • Consolidates coder scores from calibration assessment and present consolidated data to operations
  • Assists QA Supervisor and QATM with account launch for launching accounts

Qualifications

  • Graduate of any Medical or Allied Medical course or has atleast 2 years of equivalent work experience.
  • CPC certification from AAPC or CCS certification from AHIMA
  • Proficient with Revenue Cycle Management, E/M and Procedure Coding.
  • Ability to work in a team fostered environment and have the willingness to adjust to changing job responsibilities, shifting schedules, new procedures and unexpected workloads and stresses.
  • An understanding and strict adherence to all HIPAA regulations
