IMPORT CLERK

CLIENT: USA; REMOTE

SHIFT: NIGHT / GRAVEYARD PHT

TYPE: FULL TIME. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import Clerk to join our import operations team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth coordination and communication between ocean carriers, truckers, customs brokers, consignees, and internal teams to facilitate the timely and efficient delivery of import shipments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and follow up on the status of incoming shipments from origin through final delivery
  • Coordinate with ocean carriers, truckers, and warehouses to ensure proper handling and transportation of cargo
  • Liaise with customs brokers to ensure timely customs clearance and release of cargo
  • Issue and distribute arrival notices and other relevant documents to consignees and brokers
  • Provide high-level customer service by responding promptly to inquiries, providing shipment updates, and resolving issues
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the company's system (CargoWise)
  • Ensure compliance with all import regulations, documentation requirements, and company policies
  • Assist with billing and invoicing related to import shipments
  • Support internal teams by escalating service delays or discrepancies as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the import operations team

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in import operations, preferably within an NVOCC or freight forwarding environment
  • Strong understanding of import documentation, arrival notice process, and port/terminal procedures
  • Familiarity with import regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Customer-focused mindset with a problem-solving approach
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and logistics software platforms (e.g., CargoWise)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Experience with U.S. port operations
  • Experience with Cargowise

Home Office Requirements:

  • Internet Connection: Must be 25 Mbps at the least, preferably a wired connection with PLDT, Cable connection is fine if it's more than 5mbps. We DO NOT accept plug-ins, wi-fi, or wimax.
  • Computer/Laptop: The contractor must have a good working computer.
  • Headsets: The Contractor must have noise-cancelling headsets, preferably Plantronics Blackwire C320M headsets. Assessment will be done during test calls.
  • Dedicated Home Office - Contractors are required to have a dedicated home office free from noise and distractions.
  • Webcam - for meeting purposes
  • Must be comfortable working with Time Doctor/Screenshot Monitor

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From Php40,000.00 per month
