The PLC Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, installation, and maintenance of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems within construction projects. This role ensures the proper integration and operation of automation in mechanical and electrical systems such as pump stations, water treatment plants, HVAC, and power distribution facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement PLC programs to automate electrical and mechanical systems in construction projects.
  • Install, configure, and commission PLCs, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and SCADA systems.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and civil teams to integrate automation into project requirements.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of PLC-controlled systems on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, project specifications, and industry standards.
  • Prepare technical documentation including system architecture, wiring diagrams, and operation manuals.
  • Provide training and technical support to site teams and end-users.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and reliability.
  • Assist in project handover, ensuring smooth transition of automation systems to operations teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Licensed Engineer (preferred but not always required).
  • Proven experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
