POSITION SUMMARY:

MAAGAP is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Medical & Hospitalization Insurance Underwriter to conduct thorough assessment of health insurance applications, determine risk levels, make or recommend sound underwriting decisions and to ensure sustainability and profitability of Medical and Health line. The ideal candidate must possess strong underwriting skills and solid medical background, with experience in evaluating medical and hospitalization programs and managing associated risk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop underwriting guidelines, policies, systems, and procedures to serve as a framework for sound decision-making regarding the acceptance, rejection, and renewal of the risks.
  • Formulate and recommend appropriate policy terms and conditions, including applicable exclusions and exceptions.
  • Ensure underwriting practices comply with MAAGAP company policies and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in product development and pricing by providing risk assessment insights and underwriting expertise
  • Collaborate with medical advisors and actuaries, especially in complex or high-risk cases requiring specialized evaluation.
  • Supervise the review and assessment of all submitted business risks – both Individual and Group – to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adequacy of application information.
  • When necessary, conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and interpret applicant medical histories and date to assess the company's risk exposure.
  • Develop the Department goals and KPIs aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Lead and manage the daily operation of the Medical and Hospitalization Department.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Actuarial Degree or Medical Degree equivalent

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of progressive related experience, including 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead role;
  • With experience in handling group and individual insurance products;
  • Good Understanding of medical and hospitalization program; and
  • Has the ability to assess local and international medical cases
