JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Microsoft Power BI / Fabric Administrator to manage the operational infrastructure behind our enterprise reporting and analytics platform. This behind-the-scenes role is critical for enabling trusted insights and efficient development through effective workspace governance, environment management, and usage tracking. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless release management, secure workspace configurations, and robust platform monitoring to support business and technical users across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabric & Power BI Administration

• Manage Power BI and Fabric workspace lifecycle (creation, access, naming, deployment pipelines, and retention).

• Administer user permissions through Active Directory and Fabric role assignments.

• Maintain workspace and environment standards, aligned to governance guidelines.

• Monitor Power BI service health, capacity usage, and report usage analytics to identify optimization opportunities.

Release Management & Environment Coordination

• Support a structured release process across Development, Test, and Production workspaces.

• Coordinate with report developers and release managers to ensure timely deployment of approved content.

• Track and document release artifacts and environment changes for audit and traceability.

• Partner with IT to maintain reliability and availability across the Fabric platform.

Governance & Monitoring

• Execute governance processes and enforce workspace policies and naming conventions.

• Track adoption, usage trends, and license consumption using administrative dashboards and logs.

• Provide audit support and ensure compliance with internal security and data handling policies.

• Recommend improvements based on data usage patterns, adoption metrics, and user feedback.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience administering Microsoft Power BI in an enterprise environment.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Fabric services including Power BI, Data Factory, and One Lake.

• Experience managing workspace access, deployment pipelines, and platform monitoring.

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory security model.

• Solid understanding of release processes, data governance, and cloud administration.

Preferred:

• Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-200, PL-400, or Fabric Administrator certification).

• Experience with PowerShell scripting, DAX, and T-SQL.

• Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Admin APIs.

• Experience with security and compliance standards such as HIPAA or SOC 2.
