A hospital dietitian provides specialized dietary care and guidance to patients by assessing their nutritional needs, creating personalized meal plans, and educating them on healthy eating habits. They work with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition therapy for their specific conditions, such as diabetes, kidney disease, or recovery from surgery. Key responsibilities

• Patient assessment: Evaluates a patient's nutritional status, considering their medical condition, lifestyle, and other factors.
• Personalized meal plans: Develops custom dietary plans to support patient recovery, manage chronic illnesses, or meet specific health goals.
• Medical nutrition therapy: Provides nutrition counseling and therapy, often specializing in certain areas like renal nutrition, oncology nutrition, or diabetes management.
• Patient education: Educates patients and their families on how to make healthy food choices and follow their dietary plans, both in the hospital and after discharge.
• Multidisciplinary collaboration: Works closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure a patient's nutrition is integrated into their overall treatment plan.
• Malnutrition prevention: Identifies and addresses malnutrition risk in patients to improve health outcomes.
