Core responsibilities

• Patient care:Examine infants, children, adolescents, and young adults for physical, behavioral, and developmental issues.
• Diagnosis and treatment:Diagnose and treat illnesses, infections, injuries, and other health problems.
• Preventive care:Administer vaccinations and immunizations, and counsel families on preventive measures.
• Medical management:Order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications and other treatments.
• Record keeping:Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical histories and progress notes.
• Family communication:Counsel and educate patients and their families on health topics such as nutrition, safety, and hygiene.
• Collaboration and referrals:Work with other healthcare professionals and refer patients to specialists when necessary.
