About the Role: SolarWinds SME

This is an
end-to-end ownership
role where you treat monitoring as a backbone, not an afterthought. You will be the definitive subject matter expert, partnering closely with Infrastructure, Application, and Service Management teams to ensure the business has
real, actionable visibility
into performance and incidents. Your mission is to make our monitoring proactive, stable, and highly automated.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and administer the SolarWinds Orion platform and modules (NPM, NCM, SAM, VMAN, IPAM, etc.).
• Build custom, real-time dashboards, reports, and tailored alerting workflows.
• Develop monitoring policies, performance baselines, thresholds, and event management frameworks.
• Perform all platform upgrades, patching, integrations, and critical performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot monitoring gaps, false positives, and ensure correct SNMP/agent configurations across all IT assets.
• Integrate SolarWinds with ITSM/ITOM suites like ServiceNow or BMC Remedy.
• Automate monitoring setup/configuration using scripts, templates, or APIs.
• Create documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and provide training for support teams.
• Provide immediate, root insights during incident/major incident calls.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Expert, hands-on experience
  with the SolarWinds Orion platform architecture and administration.
• Proven expertise across core modules:
  NPM (Network Performance Monitor), NCM (Network Configuration Manager), and SAM (Server & Application Monitor).
• Deep understanding of network monitoring protocols:
  SNMP, ICMP, and WMI.
• Ability to independently design and implement complex dashboards, alert logic, and escalation workflows.
• Solid, demonstrated capability in SolarWinds platform troubleshooting and performance tuning.

Good-to-Have/Desired Skills

• Exposure to other monitoring stacks (e.g., Dynatrace, Zabbix, Splunk, LogicMonitor, etc.).
• Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, API usage).
• Knowledge of ITIL / event, alert, and incident processes.
• Exposure to native Cloud monitoring tools (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Ops Suite).
• Certifications in SolarWinds, ITIL, or related monitoring tools.
