Azure DevOps Engineer – Azure, CI/CD

About the Role:

L'EVATE Inc., on behalf of a leading Canadian FINTECH client, is seeking a highly experienced Azure DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in building, managing, and optimizing Azure-based CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

CI/CD Pipeline Development & Management

- Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.

- Automate build, test, deployment, and monitoring processes for both applications and infrastructure.

- Ensure consistency and quality across environments through automated release strategies and rollback mechanisms.

Azure Infrastructure Automation

- Develop and maintain IaC using Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform.

- Manage and automate provisioning of Azure services including App Services, Functions, AKS, Key Vaults, Application Gateway, and Azure SQL.

- Enforce cloud governance, tagging, policies, and cost management strategies.

Security & Compliance

- Integrate security best practices into DevOps workflows, including vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and code analysis.

- Ensure infrastructure adheres to ISO, SOC2, and OWASP guidelines.

- Manage permissions with RBAC, Managed Identities, and Azure Active Directory integration.

Monitoring, Logging & Incident Response

- Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.

- Implement proactive monitoring to detect and resolve performance or availability issues.

- Support incident response and root cause analysis activities.

Agile Collaboration & DevOps Evangelism

- Participate in agile ceremonies and collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product managers.

- Promote DevOps culture and tooling adoption across teams.

- Provide guidance for build/release issues, configuration changes, and onboarding new projects.

Required Qualifications:

- 5+ years in Azure-focused DevOps roles

- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, and CI/CD automation

- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates)

- Deep knowledge of Azure PaaS services: App Services, Functions, AKS, Key Vaults, Azure SQL

- Familiarity with networking, DNS, load balancing, VPN, firewalls in cloud environments

- Scripting proficiency: PowerShell, Bash, or Python

- Understanding of secure DevOps practices: secrets scanning, code signing, identity-based access

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

- Azure certifications (AZ-400) highly desirable

- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm

- Knowledge of observability best practices, metrics, tracing, centralized logging

Vetting Task (Pre-Screening Assignment):

Submit:

1. A sample YAML pipeline (50–100 lines) automating build, test, and deployment of a sample Azure App Service.

2. Short answers to:

- How you would implement Infrastructure as Code in Azure for a multi-service app.

- Steps to integrate security best practices in CI/CD pipelines.

- Example of monitoring and alerting setup for an Azure environment.
