Job Title: Utility Worker & Watchman

Department: Administration / Facilities

Reporting to: Office Manager / Admin Head

1. JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of the office premises by performing utility tasks during the day and acting as a security watchman to safeguard the property during and after office hours.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Utility Worker Responsibilities (Daytime Duties)

• Cleaning & Housekeeping:
• Maintain cleanliness of office premises including floors, restrooms, pantry, and common areas.
• Dust and wipe desks, furniture, equipment, and windows.
• Collect and dispose of garbage and waste materials properly.
• Pantry Assistance:
• Serve tea/coffee/water to staff and visitors as needed.
• Refill water dispensers and maintain pantry hygiene.
• Maintenance Assistance:
• Assist in minor repair work (changing bulbs, moving furniture, etc.).
• Report major maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Office Support:
• Assist with photocopying, filing, delivering documents within the office/building.
• Support staff with setting up meeting rooms and arranging chairs, tables, etc.

B. Watchman Responsibilities (After-Hours/Assigned Security Duties)

• Security & Surveillance:
• Monitor entrance and exit of employees and visitors.
• Check for unauthorized access to premises during assigned hours.
• Ensure that all lights, fans, and electronics are turned off after working hours (unless needed).
• Night Rounds:
• Conduct regular rounds of the building or assigned areas.
• Ensure gates and doors are locked and secured.
• Logbook Maintenance:
• Maintain a daily logbook of security checks and unusual incidents.
• Record entry and exit of cleaning staff, maintenance personnel, and after-hours visitors.
• Emergency Response:
• Report any suspicious activity or emergency (fire, break-in, etc.) to the concerned authority or emergency services immediately.

3. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

• Minimum qualification: High School Pass (preferred)
• Prior experience in utility or security roles (preferred)
• Basic knowledge of cleaning tools and equipment
• Physically fit and able to work flexible hours
• Honest, vigilant, and responsible attitude
• Ability to communicate in local language or basic English
