Electrician (East Africa)

Principle Accountabilities

Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using appropriate hand and power tools.

Diagnose malfunctioning systems, components, and equipment using testing devices and tools to identify root causes and perform corrective actions.

Connect electrical wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other related components in accordance with safety and technical standards.

Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and installations to identify hazards, defects, or required adjustments, ensuring compliance with applicable electrical codes and regulations.

Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to verify compatibility and safety.

Install grounding systems and power cable connections to equipment including motors and other electrical machinery.

Perform installation and termination of low-voltage distribution cables as well as medium/high-voltage cable systems.

Install MV/LV and HV/MV transformers and substations, ensuring proper configuration and safety procedures throughout commissioning activities.

Knowledge and Experience

·       Minimum 5 years of professional experience as an Electrician.

· Must hold a valid Registered Electrician License.

·       Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent certification.

·       Knowledge of British and U.S. electrical standards; City & Guilds 2382 certification is an advantage.

·       Fluent in written and spoken English.
