  • Transportation: Drive tractor-trailer or semi-trucks to transport goods, materials, or equipment to designated locations.
  • Safety and compliance: Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations, conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and report any mechanical issues.
  • Cargo management: Safely load and unload cargo, ensure it is properly secured for transit, and verify that freight weight limits are not exceeded.
  • Record keeping: Maintain detailed trip logs, fuel records, and delivery paperwork, as well as record the amount and type of cargo.
  • Route and schedule management: Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines, often using maps or satellite tracking systems.
  • Communication: Communicate with dispatchers to coordinate schedules, report incidents, and receive instructions.
  • Vehicle maintenance: Perform basic preventive maintenance, such as refueling and cleaning the truck, and ensure the vehicle is in good working order.
