Company Description
Museo del Galeón is the first experiential maritime heritage museum in the Philippines. Located in a 9000 sqm building with a striking silver-colored dome, the museum will feature a full-scale representation of a Manila galleon, various galleries, and a resource center. It overlooks the historic waters where the Philippines first engaged in world trade. Museo del Galeón will be a place of discovery, inspired by maritime heritage.
Art Handler Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Art Handler. The Art Handler will oversee the safe handling of museum collection artifacts and assist the Collections Unit with handling, packing, unpacking, dispatching, moving, and receiving objects and associated things. · Administrative functions such as inventory management and paperwork support are also part of the art handler's responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Installing, handling, packing, documenting and updating collection object movements as per museum policies.
· Assisting collections unit and conservation teams in recording the condition of the object and generating reports.
· Overseeing and ensuring the execution of policies on security, handling, movement, and storage of collection ·
· Assisting Collections Unit in mechanical cleaning of objects.
· Participating in the preparation of objects for display.
· Proposing and building storage mounts when needed · Securing and handling objects for transportation.
· Responsible for inventory of collection tools, equipment, and materials as well as packing aids (crates, boxes, frames
· Attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
· Previous experience in a museum or gallery setting is a plus
· Creative and passionate about museum collections.
· Demonstrate strength to coordinate and work with teams collaboratively on complex projects ·
· Fluent in English, proficient in computer
· Senior high school graduate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
· Additional education in art-related fields is beneficial
