Job Summary:The General Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the general accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role involves supervising the accounting team, managing the general ledger, and coordinating month-end and year-end closing activities. The General Accounting Supervisor will also play a key role in process improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations, and providing support for audits.

What does a day in the life of a General Accounting Supervisor look like?

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the general accounting team in the call center
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.Train, mentor, and coach team members on accounting principles, procedures, and call center best practices
  • Review and approve accounting transactions for accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Resolve complex accounting inquiries from customers and internal departments
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement in efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to support informed decision-making
  • Manage and prioritize team workload to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment for the accounting team
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new accounting processes and systems
  • Stay up-to-date on accounting regulations and industry best practices
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Meet or exceed performance targets for related KPIs
  • Continuously improve knowledge of products, services, and processes by participating in training programs and continuous learning modules
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications of a General Accounting Supervisor?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience in a General Accounting role and 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively motivate and coach a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is a plus
