About the Role

The Business Support Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving the organisation's business systems, ensuring smooth operations and effective problem resolution. This role involves analysing system performance, resolving Level 2 and Level 3 technical issues, providing actionable insights, supporting database management, and contributing to system migrations and ad-hoc programming tasks. The role works closely with IT, Business Analysis, and Software Development teams to drive process improvements, operational efficiency, and alignment with organisational objectives.

What You'll Be Doing

Investigation & Analysis

  • Identify and implement improvements to business systems and processes.
  • Analyse system performance and user feedback to recommend optimised solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and scalable solutions.

Business Problem Resolution & Insights

  • Resolve Level 2 & 3 support tickets promptly and effectively.
  • Perform in-depth analysis and provide actionable insights for business decisions.
  • Document recurring issues and contribute to the knowledge base for continuous improvement.

Database Analysis

  • Monitor and maintain database performance, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on data-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support reporting and analytics through efficient data extraction and transformation.

Ad-Hoc Programming & System Support

  • Develop and maintain scripts or small applications to automate tasks.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and enhancing internal tools used by business teams.
  • Participate in system migration planning, testing, and execution, ensuring minimal business disruption.

About You

  • 2-3 years experience providing Level 2 & 3 technical support in a business-critical environment.
  • Proficient in C#, .Net, ASP.Net, SQL, and business intelligence/data analytics tools.
  • Hands-on experience with database analysis, troubleshooting, and system migrations.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and code-debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, or related field (certifications such as Foundational C# or Azure Developer Associate are a plus).
  • Customer-focused mindset and ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
