HDU Nurse

1.    Assesses patient's physical condition and report to Nephrology Fellow for any abnormality.

2.    Performs hemodialysis to patients as ordered by Nephrologist.

3.    Opens and closes external access following protocol on infection.

4.    Cannulates arterio-venous fistula, access proper site infection.

5.    Attends to patient's needs during treatment and observes for any signs of complication that may arise.

6.    Ensures comfort to patients while executing dialysis nurse functions.

7.    Prepares, administers and documents medications as ordered by Nephrologist before, during and after the procedure.

8.    Monitors and records patient's vital signs.

9.    Relays diagnostic results and unusualities to physicians.

10.  Provides health teachings to patients.

11.  Setting and operating hemodialysis machine for provision of dialysis treatment for kidney failure patients.

12.  Connecting machine to access patient's catheter site or forearm to start blood diffusing through dialyzer.

13.  Attaching tubing and dialyzer to machine in order to assemble for usage.

14.  Inspecting arterial and venous pressure as recorded on machine to ensure the pressures are within standard limits.

15.  Prepares dialysis machines before the procedures and does disinfection post-procedure.

16.  Inspecting equipment settings include temperature, conductivity and pressure to ensure compliance to safety standards.

17.  Terminates dialysis treatment on prescribed duration.

18.  Keeps the dialysis machine and other ancillary equipment clean.

19.  Observes medical asepsis.

20.  Maintains cleanliness of the unit at all times.

21.  Ensures safe practice and healthy environment.

22.  Provides privacy and confidentiality.

23.  Received and endorses all equipments and supplies.

24.  Responsible for the proper care and maintenance of all machineries.

25.  Conducts health teaching to patients and watchers.
